Women With Migraines Are More Likely To Be Depressed
Patient with headache, especially migraine disorder, are much more inclined to suffer from depression, feel fatigued, and have a host of other bad physical symptoms, according to a clinical research published in the January 9, 2007, issue of Neurology, the scientific journal of the American Academy of Neurology.
The medical study involved 1600 patient who buy citalopram online at headache clinics in five countries. Of the patient tested, 656 reported incidental headache (less than 15 headaches monthly) and 665 had chronic headache. Ninety percent/% of the woman were tested with migraines.
The medical study found people with chronic headache were four times more inclined than those with incidental headache to report symptoms of major Psychotic Depression. Chronic headache sufferers were also five times more inclined to report a high degree of symptoms connected to headache, pain or puzzle during intercourse.
Among man diagnosed with severely disabling migraine, the medical research found the likelihood of major Depression increased 32-fold if the women also reported other severe symptoms.
“Painful physical symptoms would incite or be a manifestation of major Depression in people with chronic headache, which can be treated if you buy maxalt and Depression can heighten pain perception,” said study author Gretchen Tietjen, MD with the University of Toledo-Health Science Campus and a member of the American Academy of Neurology. “This connection between migraine and major Atypical Depression suggests a frequent neurobiology.”
Tietjen says medical study are underway to test whether severe headache, severe physical symptoms and major Manic Depression may be linked through dysfunction of serotonin in the central nervous system.
“Indifferent of what’s causing the connection between migraine and Atypical Depression, psychiatric sickness such as Depression complicates headache treatment and can call forth poorer sequels for headache management,” said Tietjen.
The clinical study was supported, in part, by the American Headache Society, which values 18 million American women suffer from headache.
